Blacktown City Council
About the role
Connecting people, culture, and knowledge
At Blacktown Arts, culture, place and people shape the work we do every day. Our visual arts program shares local stories, creates opportunities for people to connect with culture, and helps strengthen a sense of belonging across the city.
As Curator, you manage visual arts projects from concept to delivery. You develop and deliver exhibitions, coordinate artist commissions, prepare contracts, manage project budgets and schedules, and work with artists, contractors and Council teams to bring projects to life. You also prepare funding submissions and acquittals, contribute to cultural planning, and build partnerships with arts and cultural organisations.
You work closely with the Coordinator Programming to deliver exhibitions, workshops, performances and other projects that reflect the identity and diversity of Blacktown. You help develop local artists, support audience engagement, and manage the Blacktown City Art Collection, including collection records, acquisitions, storage, conservation and restoration.
This role suits someone with experience in contemporary visual arts who enjoys managing multiple projects, pays attention to detail and provides excellent customer service. You build strong relationships with artists, community members and stakeholders while balancing competing priorities.
Join a supportive team with opportunities to learn, grow and develop your expertise. Your work helps create a more connected, inclusive and culturally rich city where people can learn, discover and share experiences together.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
