Sales Consultant

About the role

The Sydney String Centre is seeking one full-time Sales Consultant and one part-time Sales Consultant to join our vibrant team in Chatswood and Annandale. This role is focused on delivering exceptional customer service, building lasting relationships, and helping customers find the right instruments and accessories to meet their needs and budget. Working alongside our experienced team, you will assist customers ranging from complete beginners through to professional musicians, while developing specialist knowledge of orchestral string instruments and related products.

Key responsibilities

• Learning about our extensive range of products, including fine instruments, student instruments, bows, accessories and cases, and sheet music

• Assisting customers with the purchase and rental of instruments for all skill levels, from beginners to professionals

• Providing personalised product recommendations and practical advice

• Supporting customers through their instrument selection journey both in-store and online

• Managing customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner

• Assisting with customer appointments and ensuring a positive in-store experience

• Maintaining showroom presentation and merchandising standards

• Developing and nurturing long-term relationships with customers, teachers, schools, and music communities

• Contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture

About you

• Experience in retail sales or customer service

• A passion for music and a genuine interest in learning about orchestral string instruments

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Confidence working with a diverse range of customers, including children, parents, teachers, and professional musicians

• A friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach

• Strong reading, writing, and organisational skills

• Moderate computer skills (training will be provided where required)

• A strong work ethic with excellent punctuality and reliability

• The ability to work independently and show initiative

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team

• The ability to play violin, viola, cello, double bass or classical guitar to a good standard

It is desirable to have:

• Experience in premium sales (e.g., fine art, haut-couture, boutique electronics, etc.)

• A tertiary degree or diploma (ideally in music, education, fine arts, or business).

• Ability to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean or Japanese.
