Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connect individuals to programs, services and community. CCS provides management of individuals on court orders, people who have committed serious sex offences on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.
About The Role
Court Assessment & Prosecutions Officers (CAPS) are responsible for supporting the operation of the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service and applying relevant work practices. This includes conducting initial assessments, variations or prosecution against an individual's court order.
Court assessment and prosecutions work practices will include undertaking assessments to determine an individual's suitability for a court order, facilitating the variation of an order, or prosecuting individuals failing to comply with their orders and providing advice to assist the Judiciary in the sentencing process.
The CAPS officer will be based out of Heidelberg Magistrates Court and will also work from the Reservoir Justice Service Centre as rostered.
Key Responsibilities Include
Provide timely, high quality, evidence-based advice to stakeholdersUndertake an effective assessment of an individual's risk to community safetyEffectively manage individuals exhibiting challenging behavioursProduce detailed reports and other standard documents in line with procedural guidelines
About You
Experience or knowledge of court processes and prosecutionsDemonstrated ability to provide human services in needs assessments and development of interventionsPays attention to words, expression and body language; Recognises behaviours that promote a culture of inclusionResolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines
