• 12-months Full-Time position | WFH with 2 days minimum in our Southbank Office
• Base salary $168,323 - $184,321 plus 12% super

About the opportunity  

Join Energy Safe as a Principal Regulatory Investigations Advisor, where you'll play a key role in shaping and enhancing our investigations function. Reporting to the Head of Investigations, you'll lead the ongoing development of Energy Safe's Investigations Framework, provide expert advice and quality assurance on complex and high-risk investigations, and support informed regulatory decision-making.

Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you'll drive governance, capability uplift, assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of investigations across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to influence regulatory practice and help deliver safer outcomes for Victorians.

 

What you'll contribute  

• Lead the continuous improvement of Energy Safe's Investigations Framework, governance, and quality assurance processes.
• Provide expert advice and peer review on complex, high-risk, and sensitive investigations, ensuring robust and evidence-based outcomes.
• Partner with investigators, technical specialists, legal advisers, and regulatory teams to strengthen investigative practice and decision-making.
• Support executive and governance reporting by delivering insights on emerging risks, trends, and significant regulatory issues.
• Drive capability uplift through mentoring, guidance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop practical tools, resources, and best-practice approaches that enhance the consistency and effectiveness of investigations across Energy Safe.

 

To be successful, you'll bring 

• A qualification in investigations (Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent), with tertiary qualifications in Law, Regulatory Practice, Public Administration, or a related field highly regarded.
• Extensive experience in regulatory, compliance, enforcement, or investigations environments, including complex and high-risk matters.
• Strong expertise in investigative frameworks, governance, quality assurance, evidence assessment, procedural fairness, and regulatory decision-making.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply complex legislation, provide strategic advice, and deliver practical, risk-based recommendations.
• Experience preparing high-quality reports, briefs, and submissions for senior leaders, governance bodies, and decision-makers.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing, communication, and analytical skills.
• A passion for continuous improvement, with experience developing guidance, tools, and capability-building initiatives that enhance investigation practice.
• Experience in the Victorian energy sector and/or public sector environments (desirable).
