Position purpose
The Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating sustainable growth for Best of Homecare across Aged Care Support at Home and NDIS services, while also developing business opportunities for the SupportAt software platform. The position builds referral pathways, develops strategic relationships, converts qualified opportunities and supports effective onboarding and long-term stakeholder engagement.
The role requires in-depth knowledge of the Support at Home program, the aged care and NDIS operating environments, and the practical needs of service providers. The position holder must be able to clearly demonstrate how Best of Homecare services and SupportAt software respond to client, provider, workforce, compliance and operational requirements.

SupportAt is a software platform designed to support aged care and NDIS providers with service delivery, workforce coordination, documentation, compliance and operational management.
Key responsibilities
Business growth and lead generation
• Identify, qualify and pursue new business opportunities across Aged Care Support at Home, NDIS, homecare, healthcare and provider software markets.
• Develop and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective clients, referrers, providers and strategic partners.
• Achieve agreed activity, conversion, revenue and partnership targets while maintaining ethical and client-centred practices.
• Prepare tailored proposals, quotations, presentations and supporting information for prospective clients and partners.
Aged Care Support at Home development
• Build strong referral relationships with aged care providers, care partners, health professionals, hospitals, discharge teams, community organisations and relevant agencies.
• Maintain current, practical knowledge of Support at Home service delivery, participant pathways, provider obligations, quality and safeguarding expectations, funding arrangements and sector reforms.
• Identify opportunities to expand Best of Homecare's Support at Home services and assist stakeholders to understand available service options.
• Support the intake and operational teams with accurate handovers so new clients can be assessed and onboarded efficiently.
NDIS business development
• Develop relationships with participants, families, support coordinators, plan managers, allied health professionals, hospitals, community organisations and other referral partners.
• Promote suitable NDIS services while ensuring information is accurate, transparent and consistent with participant choice and control.
• Maintain sound knowledge of NDIS service models, referral pathways, provider responsibilities, pricing arrangements and participant support needs.
• Work with internal teams to ensure proposed services are deliverable, appropriately matched and supported by clear documentation.
SupportAt software development
• Generate and qualify leads for SupportAt software among aged care and NDIS providers.
• Conduct product presentations and demonstrations that connect platform features to provider challenges, including workforce management, rostering, documentation, compliance, service delivery, reporting and billing workflows.
• Gather prospective customer requirements and communicate them accurately to the software, implementation and support teams.
• Support proposal development, commercial discussions, onboarding handovers, customer follow-up and relationship management.
• Provide market feedback on customer needs, competitor offerings and opportunities for product improvement.
Stakeholder and partnership management
• Build trusted, professional relationships with diverse stakeholders and maintain regular, purposeful contact.
• Represent Best of Homecare and SupportAt at industry events, expos, conferences, presentations and networking activities.
• Negotiate partnership and commercial terms within delegated authority and escalate commitments requiring approval.
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism and protect the organisation's reputation in all external interactions.
Pipeline, reporting and internal collaboration
• Record leads, activities, opportunities, next actions and outcomes accurately in the approved CRM or sales management system.
• Provide timely reports on pipeline value, conversion progress, referral sources, forecast revenue, risks and emerging opportunities.
• Collaborate with intake, operations, clinical, marketing, finance, compliance and software teams to support seamless service delivery and customer experience.
• Follow up after onboarding to identify concerns, strengthen relationships and support retention and future growth.
Compliance, quality and conduct
• Comply with organisational policies, privacy and confidentiality requirements, work health and safety obligations, codes of conduct and relevant aged care and NDIS requirements.
• Ensure marketing and sales information is truthful, current and does not make unauthorised promises regarding services, pricing, funding, software capability or outcomes.
• Identify and promptly escalate complaints, conflicts of interest, safeguarding concerns, data risks and reputational issues.
• Participate in training, supervision, performance reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Selection Criteria
Essential
· Demonstrated success in business development, sales, account management or partnership development, preferably in aged care, NDIS, healthcare, homecare or software services.
· In-depth knowledge of the Australian Government's Support at Home program and the aged care service environment.
· Strong understanding of the NDIS, including participant-centred practice, provider operations, referral pathways and service delivery requirements.
· Ability to understand provider workflows and communicate the value of digital or software solutions to operational and executive stakeholders.
· Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, proposal-writing and negotiation skills.
· Demonstrated ability to generate opportunities, manage a pipeline, progress leads and secure new business.
· Strong organisational skills, initiative, accountability and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Competence using CRM systems, sales tools, Microsoft Office and online meeting or presentation platforms.
· Current driver's licence and capacity to travel within the region as required.
· Ability to meet applicable pre-employment screening and compliance requirements.
Desirable
· Tertiary qualification in business, marketing, sales, healthcare management, information technology or a related discipline.
· Experience selling or implementing SaaS, care-management, workforce-management or provider-management software.
· Established professional networks across aged care, NDIS, healthcare or community services.
· Experience working in a regulated, client-centred service environment.

Conditions and Inherent requirements
· This is a part-time role. Ordinary hours and work pattern will be specified in the employment agreement.
· The role may require attendance at meetings, presentations, networking events or travel outside usual office hours by prior arrangement.
· The position involves regular computer and telephone use, meetings, presentations, local travel and occasional extended periods of sitting or standing.
· Employment remains subject to the organisation's policies, lawful and reasonable directions, and applicable screening, licensing and training requirements.
· Responsibilities may be reasonably varied to meet operational needs, following consultation and within the employee's skills and classification.
