Join the WA Forest Alliance (WAFA) team as the End Forest Mining Community Campaign Coordinator.
WAFA was established in 1990 to provide an umbrella organisation for the many groups working to protect WA’s native forests across Noongar boodja. We are a small but highly effective team of passionate, hard-working and dynamic people who care deeply about the protection of native forests.
POSITION OVERVIEW
End Forest Mining (EFM) is an alliance of groups, all working together for a shared purpose: to end bauxite mining in WA’s Northern Jarrah Forest. Our vision is for the State’s magnificent remaining jarrah forests to be safe from mining, and protected forever. The EFM campaign is managed by a Steering Committee of WAFA as well as Conservation Council of WA (CCWA) and the Wilderness Society WA (TWS).
The EFM Community Campaign Coordinator will assist with alliance coordination and serve as the primary point of contact for EFM alliance members and external stakeholders engaging with the EFM campaign, in order to build a bigger and more diverse movement for protecting WA’s native forests from mining.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Work collaboratively with the WAFA team and Steering Committee to lead on delivery and implementation of community campaign tactics, adapting when priorities shift. ● Coordinate meetings and other internal communications between the Steering Committee, as well as external communications to alliance members and other stakeholders, serving as a first point of contact. ● Oversee campaign actions, events and stalls in the Perth metropolitan, Darling Range and broader Southwest, ensuring that they are strategic, engaging and meaningful for supporters and volunteers and grow wider community support for the campaign. ● Engage with existing and new volunteers to provide support for the campaign, and equip them with resources, training and support, provide meaningful tasks and oversee their activities. ● Maintain insight into campaign activities across the alliance to identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities, plus help coordinate timing and consistent messaging. ● Report regularly to the Steering Committee on campaign status and coordination. ● Facilitate shared decision-making processes within agreed parameters.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Required criteria: ● Experience in co-ordinating community campaigns, preferably in a coalition or alliance setting ● Strong written and verbal communication skills ● Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with a variety of supporters and stakeholders ● High level organisational skills and attention to detail ● Ability to work both collaboratively and independently while maintaining clear communication
Desirable criteria: ● Understanding of environmental and climate advocacy ● Experience in organising and managing a range of events
CONDITIONS
● 0.8FTE with flexible work hours. Alternative hours may be considered for the right candidate(s). ● 12-month contract with 3-month probation ● $84,044 - $91,792 pro rata, plus super ● Social and Community Services (WA) Interim Award 2011 level 4.1 - 4.4 ● The role is based in the Perth metro area, working from WAFA’s West Perth office and/or from home. WAFA’s West Perth Office is at City West Lotteries House, which is wheelchair accessible via ramps and has accessible bathrooms available. ● Travel is required across the Perth metro area, the Darling Range and the Southwest. Travel expenses are reimbursed. ● Reports to the WA Forest Alliance Director. The role does not have direct reports.
