In this role, you'll:
Sydney Trains is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – Wireless to provide technical leadership and engineering authority for business critical wireless systems that keep our network operating safely and efficiently.
In this role, you’ll lead the engineering lifecycle of complex wireless systems from concept and design through to implementation, integration and ongoing support. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative technical solutions, drive systems engineering activities, manage technical integration, and ensure our wireless infrastructure continues to meet the needs of one of Australia’s largest rail networks.
We’re looking for someone with strong systems engineering expertise and extensive experience in wireless and telecommunications technologies, including 3G/4G/5G mobile networks, UHF radio systems, IP networking and wireless infrastructure. You’ll also bring hands on experience applying systems engineering methodologies, including requirements management, verification and validation, RAMS and FMECA analysis.

About you
To be successful, you’ll have:
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering (Telecommunications or a related discipline preferred), eligible for professional membership with Engineers Australia.
• At least three years’ experience applying systems engineering methodologies across the full system development lifecycle.
• Extensive experience designing, integrating and supporting complex wireless systems.
• Strong knowledge of wireless technologies, telecommunications infrastructure and IP networking.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical rail technology, influence major engineering decisions, and help deliver safe, reliable and future ready wireless systems for Sydney’s rail network.
Temporary Full-Time opportunity until 18 March 2027.
