HVAC Service Technician

About the role

This is a permanent, full-time position focused predominantly on service, maintenance, fault-finding and the replacement of existing equipment rather than construction or large project work. Work is primarily carried out across high-rise residential and commercial buildings throughout the Sydney metropolitan area, on a broad range of equipment including water-cooled packaged air-conditioning systems, split and ducted systems, air-cooled package units, chillers and associated pumps, cooling towers and condenser-water systems, mechanical ventilation and smoke-control systems, and variable-speed drives and basic control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Routine preventative maintenance
• Breakdown diagnosis and repairs
• Electrical and refrigeration fault-finding
• Replacement of existing air-conditioning and HVAC equipment
• Disconnecting and removing redundant equipment
• Installing, commissioning and testing replacement equipment
• Identifying defects and recommending repairs
• Completing clear and accurate service reports
• Communicating professionally with building managers, strata representatives and occupants
• Working independently while receiving support from office and technical team

About you

• Relevant Australian air-conditioning and refrigeration qualifications
• A current ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence
• A current NSW driver licence
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Good electrical knowledge
• Experience servicing, repairing and replacing commercial or high-rise residential HVAC equipment
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• The ability to manage their workload and complete service documentation properly
• A reliable, practical and professional attitude
• An electrical licence or additional controls experience would be highly regarded but is not essential
