Reporting to the APAC Managing Director the Australia Country Head has overall responsibility for the Loans Agency and Trustee businesses in Australia. This role oversees the Middle Office, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and Client Services teams within the region, with direct management of their respective leaders.
The Australia Country Head holds full P&L responsibility for the Australian business and partners closely with senior management and Business Development to deliver financial performance and strategic growth.
As a member of the APAC Senior Leadership Team, the Australia Country Head will contribute to regional strategy and ensure strong alignment with global operations, fostering collaboration across key jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & StrategyProvide executive leadership across the Australian platformContribute to APAC-wide strategic planning and decision-makingDrive collaboration with global Country Managers to ensure consistency and scalabilityLead and execute change management and transformation initiativesOwn recruitment for the Australian business within agreed P&L parameters, ensuring hiring decisions are aligned to budget, support sustainable financial performance, and maintain appropriate operational capability.
Financial & Commercial ManagementOwn and manage the full P&L for the Australian businessPartner with Finance on financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance trackingSupport and drive revenue growth through Business Development initiativesIdentify and capitalise on new market and product opportunities
Operational ExcellenceEnsure efficient, scalable operations across Middle Office, DCM, and Client ServicesOversee the execution and closing of new transactions within agreed timelinesMaintain exceptional standards of client servicing, reporting, and payment accuracyDrive continuous improvement, process optimisation, and operational efficiency
Governance & RiskParticipate in regular Business Review meetings and monitor KRIsServe on key internal committees (Client Acceptance, Business Acceptance, Product Approval)Ensure adherence to risk frameworks, compliance obligations, and operating procedures
Client & Market LeadershipDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clients, lenders, borrowers, law firms, and intermediariesRepresent GLAS at industry forums and market events across Australia and APACAct as a senior ambassador for the business in the local market
People Leadership
Lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams across functionsEnsure appropriate resourcing and workforce planning in line with growthPartner with HR on performance management, talent development, and succession planningFoster an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned with GLAS values
Experience & Qualifications
Proven senior leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teamsStrong experience within institutional debt markets (loan agency, trustee, DCM or related)Knowledge of the Australian financial markets and regulatory environmentExperience in P&L management is advantageousDemonstrated success in change management and business transformationStrong project management and organisational capabilitiesFamiliarity with loan administration and payment systems
