Home Migration Services We are seeking an experienced Floor Finisher to prepare substrates and install rubber, soft-fall and other resilient floor coverings at commercial, recreational and community sites. The successful applicant will complete accurate measurements, surface preparation, material installation, finishing, repairs and quality checks in accordance with project specifications and safety requirements.   Benefits

Task & responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans, specifications, drawings and job instructions.
• Inspect, measure and assess floor and ground surfaces before installation.
• Calculate quantities of rubber, binders, primers, adhesives and other materials required.
• Remove existing floor coverings, contaminants and damaged surfacing where necessary.
• Prepare substrates by cleaning, grinding, levelling, filling, patching and repairing surfaces.
• Apply primers, adhesives, sealants and moisture-control products.
• Mix rubber granules, binders and colour components to specified ratios.
• Install wet-pour rubber and soft-fall surfacing to the required thickness, fall and finish.
• Lay recycled-rubber tiles, resilient flooring and synthetic-grass surfaces where required.
• Cut, shape, fit, join and secure flooring materials around edges, fixtures and irregular areas.
• Use hand tools, power tools, mixers, screeds and trowels to spread, level and finish surfaces.
• Create clean edges, joins, patterns, colours and transitions between surface materials.
• Inspect completed surfaces for adhesion, level, consistency, appearance and defects.
• Repair worn, damaged or defective rubber and resilient flooring.
• Maintain installation tools, equipment and vehicles in safe working condition.
• Keep accurate records of materials used, work completed and site conditions.
• Coordinate with supervisors, clients, builders and other trades on site.
• Follow safe-working procedures when handling adhesives, binders and installation materials.
• Comply with workplace health and safety, site-access and environmental requirements.
• Maintain clean and organised work areas and dispose of waste responsibly.

Qualification & experience Qualifications and experience The successful applicant should possess:

• a Certificate III in Flooring Technology or an equivalent relevant trade qualification;
• at least two years of relevant floor-finishing or resilient-surface installation experience;
• demonstrated experience preparing substrates and installing rubber or similar floor coverings;
• experience using flooring tools, mixing equipment, adhesives, binders and finishing products;
• the ability to interpret plans, take accurate measurements and calculate material requirements;
• sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements;
• a current driver’s licence;
• a Construction Induction Card (White Card); and
• the ability to travel to project sites and perform physically demanding work.

Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of a formal qualification where appropriate.   Skills and attributes
