Senior Project Manager

You’ve been managing projects for years.

You know how to read a programme, manage a subcontractor, deal with a difficult client and spot a problem before it becomes a problem.

At SWI Fencing, we’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to take ownership of medium to high-complexity projects across Australia — from early planning and mobilisation through construction, practical completion and final closeout.

This is a senior delivery role. You’ll have Construction Managers and Project Coordinators working with you, and you’ll provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers delivering lower-complexity projects.

You won’t be micromanaging the detail.

You’ll be making sure the right people, decisions and resources are in place to deliver the project successfully.

You’ll be accountable for the things that matter: Programme, budget, client, risk., people & delivery.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Delivery, Commercial, Pre-Construction, Procurement, Engineering and HSEQ teams, while leading the project delivery team and coordinating designers, subcontractors and suppliers.

You’ll be expected to understand what is happening across your projects, identify issues early and take action before they become expensive problems.

Your involvement starts before construction. You’ll review scope, interfaces and constraints, challenge programme assumptions, assess buildability and constructability, develop delivery methodologies and identify the risks that could impact the project.

Then you’ll lead through:

• Mobilisation and site establishment

• Construction planning and delivery

• Programme and cost control

• Subcontractor and interface management

• Client and consultant relationships

• Quality, safety and environmental performance

• EOTs and delivery risk

• Project forecasting and performance reporting

• Practical completion and commissioning

• Defects, DLP and final project closeout

You’ll have a Construction Manager as your key site-based delivery partner, allowing you to focus on leading the broader project, managing performance and keeping the project commercially and operationally on track.

This isn't simply about delivering your own projects.

As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to Project Managers working on lower-complexity projects.

You’ll be someone others can turn to when a project gets complicated, a client relationship becomes challenging or a delivery decision needs senior judgement.

We’re looking for someone who can bring calm, structure and accountability when the pressure is on.

We’re looking for a senior construction professional with a proven record of delivering complex projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• 10+ years’ project management experience across fencing, civil or construction projects

• Proven experience delivering medium to high-complexity projects

• Experience leading project teams, Construction Managers, subcontractors and multiple interfaces

• Strong programme, cost, commercial and risk management capability

• Demonstrated experience taking projects from mobilisation through to practical completion and closeout

• Strong technical and construction judgement, including buildability and methodology

• The confidence to lead client and consultant relationships

• Experience identifying and escalating risks before they impact delivery

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Construction Engineering, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and demonstrated construction management experience

• Current driver's licence and White Card

More importantly, you’ll have the judgement and maturity that comes with having successfully delivered major projects. You’ll know when to get into the detail, when to delegate and when something needs to be escalated.

SWI Fencing delivers high-security fencing and associated construction packages across defence, government, infrastructure, transport, utilities and critical infrastructure.
