Pharmacist - Pharmacy Software & Product Support

The opportunity

Our client is an established Australian software company that develops point-of-sale and dispensing solutions specifically for the pharmacy industry.

An opportunity is available for a pharmacist to join its internal pharmacy product team. Working alongside two highly experienced senior pharmacists, you will help ensure the company’s dispensing software remains accurate, practical and compliant with Australian pharmacy and PBS requirements.

This is not a traditional dispensing position or a sales-focused product role. It is an internally focused position combining pharmacy knowledge with software, product data, compliance, documentation and testing.

It would particularly suit an early-career community pharmacist looking to move away from the pharmacy floor and build a long-term career within health technology.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing new, amended and deleted PBS medicine listings
• Researching changes to medicines, dispensing rules and pharmacy requirements
• Helping translate pharmacy and regulatory changes into software requirements
• Preparing and maintaining PBS information, fact sheets and internal documentation
• Checking medicine, pricing and product data for accuracy
• Completing detailed data entry, reconciliation and quality checks
• Testing software updates against genuine pharmacy and dispensing scenarios
• Identifying potential compliance, workflow or patient-safety issues
• Investigating PBS claiming, dispensing and software-related problems
• Documenting issues clearly for software developers and support teams
• Supporting the senior pharmacists with research, testing and product-related activities

About you

You will ideally have:

• A pharmacy qualification and current AHPRA registration
• Experience working in an Australian community-pharmacy environment
• A practical understanding of PBS dispensing, eScripts and pharmacy workflows
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Confidence using dispensing software and other computer-based systems
• An interest in software, data, testing or digital health
• Good written communication and documentation skills
• The ability to work collaboratively and take guidance from experienced team members
• A willingness to complete detailed and sometimes repetitive work accurately

Experience with Excel, software testing, data analysis, technical support or pharmacy-system implementation would be highly regarded but is not essential. You do not need to be a software developer-the interest and ability to learn are more important.
