About the role
We are seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The School
Bassendean Primary School (PS) first opened as West Guildford Primary School in October 1906. In 1922, the West Guildford area, along with the school, was renamed Bassendean.
As a public school, Bassendean PS implements the identified values, focus outcomes and strategic directions of the Department of Education. The Role
The ideal applicants should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, exhibiting a natural ability to communicate effectively and foster genuine relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
As teachers, suitable applicants would promptly establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment, setting high expectations and cultivating a growth mindset, while nurturing students' social and emotional development.
Ideally, we are seeking experienced educators who can build positive relationships with students and parents with the ability to use a culturally responsive approach to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
The desired applicants will ideally exhibit exemplary teaching skills, with a strong motivation to excel, and a commitment to delivering best practices. The capacity to excel in an environment characterised by whole-school connected practice, collaborative team structures, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth is highly valued. Teachers with experience and exposure to Initial Lit, Spellex, Talk for Writing, Oxford Maths, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) are highly desirable.
As members of our team, suitable applicants would leverage high-impact teaching strategies and showcase experience in designing and delivering engaging literacy and numeracy programs. An understanding of differentiation to meet diverse student needs is highly valued, along with proficiency in utilising various assessment tools to inform progress, provide constructive feedback, and guide future classroom planning.
Please note that we have vacancies from Early Childhood to Year 6 with a possibility of a music or dance specialist roles.
