Tow Truck Operator

About the role

AAAC Towing is seeking a professional and experienced Tow Truck Operator to join our team at our Welshpool location. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our road transport operations. As a Tow Truck Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles and providing roadside assistance to our customers across WA. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for reliable, efficient and professional towing services. You will be the face of AAAC Towing during customer interactions and will be instrumental in delivering outstanding service during often stressful situations for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Operating tow trucks safely and professionally to recover and transport vehicles to designated locations

• Conducting pre-operation and post-operation vehicle inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order

• Responding promptly to towing requests and roadside assistance calls within the allocated service area

• Safely securing vehicles using appropriate towing equipment and techniques in compliance with industry standards

• Communicating effectively with customers, dispatch teams and other stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of requirements

• Maintaining detailed records of all jobs completed, including vehicle conditions, times and any incidents

• Adhering to all traffic laws, company policies and occupational health and safety regulations

• Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of the tow truck to keep it in optimal condition

• Assisting customers with minor roadside services such as lockouts, jump-starts and fuel delivery where applicable

• Responding professionally and courteously to customer inquiries and complaints

What we're looking for

• A current and valid C-Class driving license with a clean driving record

• Heavy vehicle license (HR or HC)

• Proven experience operating tow trucks or similar heavy recovery vehicles

• National Police Clearance

• Strong knowledge of vehicle towing safety procedures and regulations

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure

• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers and colleagues

• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks safely

• Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of vehicle systems

• Reliability and punctuality with a professional attitude

• The ability to work independently whilst maintaining communication with dispatch and management
