Project Coordinator — Manufacturing & Drafting

About Us

Custom Works NT designs and builds custom aluminium boats and trailers from our Berrimah facility. We are a small, highly skilled team producing high-specification vessels and trailers for commercial and recreational customers across the Territory.
Your Role

You will be the person who makes sure every job hits the workshop floor complete — drawings issued, parts cut, materials on hand and paperwork in place from start to finish. This is a newly created position and offers the opportunity to grow, including compliance recording, systems ownership, and a path toward production engineering.

Key responsibilities include:
•    Maintaining the production schedule alongside our Production Manager.

•    Confirming drawings, parts and materials are ready before a job is released to the floor.

•    Preparing and releasing 2D DXF cutting files for laser cutting.

•    Raising purchase orders, following up suppliers, and setting reorder points so jobs never stop on common stock items.

•    Coordinating external services — laser cutting, powder coating, engraving and freight.

•    Acting as first point of contact for customer enquiries and job progress calls.

•    Briefing drafting work out to our design resource and tracking it back on time.

•    Keeping job records, hours and job stages accurate.

Essential Skills & Experience

•    Demonstrated 2D CAD capability — able to produce and release DXF cutting files without supervision.

•    Working knowledge of 3D modelling, and the ability to confidently interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

•    Experience coordinating work in a manufacturing, fabrication, engineering or construction environment.

•    Strong organisational discipline — able to run many parallel jobs and their dependencies without dropping any.

•    Confident dealing directly with customers by telephone.

•    Competent across Microsoft 365, particularly Planner, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.

•    Meticulous with records and documentation.

•    Must be an Australian resident or hold a current working visa.

Desirable Skills

•    Experience using job tracking or ERP software for production planning.

•    Background in procurement or purchasing.

•    Exposure to compliance or certification record-keeping (NSCV, AS/NZS, ISO or similar).

•    Forklift or High Risk Licence.
