The role

As a Network Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for supporting and maintaining the Department's network infrastructure and connectivity services across office, datacentre and cloud environments. You will contribute to the delivery of secure, reliable and high-performing network services that support critical business operations across the Department.

Your technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and experience in enterprise networking will be key to your success in this role.

You will bring expertise in network operations, troubleshooting and continuous improvement, along with the ability to deliver reliable technical services and contribute to the ongoing performance, security and resilience of the Department's network environment.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

A detailed resume outlining your key achievements, work history, education and professional development and covering letter of no more than two (2) pages, addressing the following role specific requirements and leadership behaviours:

• Demonstrated experience supporting and documenting enterprise network infrastructure and connectivity across datacentre, cloud and office environments, with a sound understanding of routing, switching, network security and resilience principles.

• Network Security and Remote Access: Demonstrated experience applying network security principles within enterprise environments, including traffic inspection and control (e.g. firewalls), identity and access management, secure remote connectivity and vulnerability management.

• Routing, Switching and Wireless: Experience supporting and troubleshooting enterprise network environments, including routing, switching and wireless technologies, with an understanding of routing and traffic flow, VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks), QoS (Quality of Service), access control, and resilience across wired and wireless environments.

• Think Through Complexity - You approach problems with systematic thinking and seek alternative options before implementing solutions.
