North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service
About the role
The North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service (NAAFLS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering culturally safe legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence across the Top End.
With offices in Darwin, Katherine and Nhulunbuy, our work is grounded in cultural respect, community collaboration and self-determination. We provide holistic, wraparound support through our legal services, child protection and family law programs, Leaving Violence Program and Miyalk Safehouse, helping create safer futures for Aboriginal families and communities.
NAAFLS is leading the delivery of the Leaving Violence Program – Top End Regional Trial providing culturally safe, practical and financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing family violence. The NAAFLS-led Top End Regional trial forms part of a national expansion of the Leaving Violence Program with trials run concurrently in Cairns, Broome and Dubbo.
We are looking for an experienced Case Worker to join our Leaving Violence Program (LVP) team in Katherine. The role provides up to 12 weeks case management support to eligible participants, helping clients develop their own plans to leave violence safely and supporting them to achieve their goals.
Working in a trauma-informed and strengths-based way, you will provide culturally appropriate support, undertake risk and safety assessments, develop safety and support plans, and connect clients with relevant services and community supports. You will also support clients to safely access the LVP financial packages.
The role requires strong communication and relationship building skills, cultural knowledge, and the ability to respectfully work with Aboriginal clients and communities. Regular travel to remote communities, including overnight travel, is required.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing family violence and who understands the importance of culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.

Join a passionate, values-driven organisation committed to Aboriginal leadership, cultural safety and community empowerment. You'll work alongside dedicated professionals who are making a real difference every day, while enjoying flexible work arrangements, excellent leave entitlements, ongoing professional development and the opportunity to help strengthen governance within one of the Northern Territory's leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
