About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Utility Locator to join our highly skilled Victorian team of CERTLOC-certified professionals.
This role is based in our Malvern office, where you will work within a collaborative and highly experienced Subsurface Utility Investigation (SUI) team that specialises in locating underground infrastructure and translating utility information into engineering-grade survey data.

Key Responsibilities

• Competently locate and investigate underground utilities and associated infrastructure using:
• • Electromagnetic locating equipment
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology
• Read and interpret Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) plans, as-built drawings, and construction/design documentation.
• Complete investigation reports and associated project documentation.
• Provide technical advice regarding underground utility services.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with clients and provide appropriate service recommendations.
• Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, planners, and other specialist consultants to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
• Support and mentor trainee staff.

What We’re Looking For​

• Construction Industry White Card.
• CERTLOC accreditation.
• Demonstrated experience using electromagnetic locating equipment.
• Experience operating Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems.
• Sound understanding of AS 5488 Classification of Subsurface Utility Information.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to interpret complex underground service plans and construction drawings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Positive and professional attitude towards workplace safety and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Rail Industry Worker accreditation.
• Confined Space accreditation.
• Previous experience in utility mapping and GPS data capture.
