About the Role

We’re looking for a warm, organised and proactive Front of House team member to join us at Urban Room Hair.

Please note, this role includes late-night trading and alternate Saturdays, so availability and flexibility to work these shifts is essential.

As the face of our salon, you’ll be the first and last point of contact for our clients and play an important role in making sure every person feels genuinely welcomed, looked after and valued from the moment they enquire or walk through our doors.

This is much more than a reception role. You’ll help keep the salon running smoothly, manage appointments, support our team, maintain a beautiful and organised salon environment, and take care of all the little details that create an exceptional client experience.

We’re looking for someone who is happy to be hands-on. On any given day, that might mean managing a busy appointment book, looking after clients, answering enquiries, restocking retail, collecting salon supplies, preparing refreshments, helping the team stay on schedule or jumping in to tidy and clean when needed.

Client Experience

• Greet every client warmly and make them feel welcome.

• Offer refreshments and ensure clients are comfortable throughout their visit.

• Build genuine relationships with our clients and remember their preferences.

• Deliver exceptional customer service in person, over the phone and online.

• Help create the relaxed, professional and high-quality experience our clients know us for.

Reception & Administration

• Manage the salon diary to maximise efficiency and productivity.

• Answer phone calls, emails and social media enquiries promptly and professionally.

• Confirm appointments and manage cancellations, waitlists and rebookings.

• Process payments and balance the daily till.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.

• Help keep the day flowing smoothly and communicate any appointment changes with the team.

Retail & Rebooking

• Educate clients on salon services, promotions and products.

• Support the team in achieving retail and rebooking goals.

• Maintain beautiful retail displays and ensure shelves are stocked and organised.

• Confidently assist clients with product recommendations when required.

Salon Operations

• Keep the reception, client areas and salon clean, tidy, organised and welcoming throughout the day.

• Assist with general salon cleaning and tidying when required so the salon is always presented to a high standard.

• Monitor stock levels and assist with stock management and ordering.

• Collect salon supplies, groceries and other items as required.

• Prepare and maintain client amenities, including beverages and refreshments.

• Coordinate deliveries and ensure supplies are unpacked, organised and stored correctly.

• Help maintain back-of-house areas so they remain clean and organised.

• Assist the salon owner, manager and team with day-to-day operational tasks to keep the salon running smoothly.

Team Support

• Communicate appointment changes efficiently.

• Help stylists stay on schedule throughout the day.

• Support apprentices and other team members when required.

• Be willing to jump in and help wherever needed during busy periods.

• Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive team environment.

• Happy to be hands-on and help with whatever is needed to keep the salon running beautifully.

• Available to work alternate Saturdays and late nights.

Desirable Experience

Previous reception, concierge or customer service experience would be highly regarded.

Experience within hair, beauty, hospitality or another premium service environment would be fantastic, but salon experience isn’t essential. For us, finding someone with the right personality, work ethic and approach to customer service is just as important. For the right candidate, training will be provided in the areas needed to help you feel confident and successful in the role.
