Senior Data Engineer – NBA Analytics

A high-performing software/data engineering generalist with non-zero amount of in-industry, pre-AI experience, some serious in-the-weeds post-AI experience.

You also must have a genuine interest in the NBA.

You might have worked on:

• Large scale data ingestion — feeds, APIs, web-scraping

• Data lake/warehousing and dimensional modelling

• Money and/or time-sensitive autonomous systems

• Analytics on messy, high-volume, real-world data

You might be comfortable with:

• Commanding fleets of AI agents on multiple projects at once

• Designing sensible and scalable pipelines and data models

• Orchestration, testing, and monitoring — knowing when something breaks before anyone tells you

• AWS or similar

You might like:

• Recognising opportunities for technical uplift or solutions, and driving them through to completion

• Working across all layers of the stack, including infrastructure, data, and systems design and data analysis

• Using AI as a force multiplier, and building the systems that make it reliably effective

• Sitting with a dataset until you actually understand what it's telling you

• NBA basketball

You might be the type to:

• Prove things work, rather than trust that they do

• Advocate for the (perhaps needlessly) optimal approach

• Reconcile the numbers three ways before you believe them
