Support or Maintenance Manager and Help Keep Our Nursery Growing

We are a leading wholesale plant nursery located in Devon Meadows and dedicated to producing high-quality plants and delivering exceptional service to our customers. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance 2IC to support the maintenance and upkeep of our nursery facilities, equipment, irrigation systems, and infrastructure.

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will be responsible for facilitating preventative and reactive maintenance activities across the nursery and contribute to capital projects. You will ensure our equipment, machinery, irrigation systems, buildings, and grounds are maintained to the highest standard to support safe and efficient operations.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills, excellent organisational abilities, ability to interact and coordinate various departmental priorities and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

·        Plan, coordinate and supervise maintenance activities across the nursery.

·        Support the Maintenance Manager to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

·        Conduct preventative maintenance programs for nursery equipment, vehicles, pumps, irrigation systems, and infrastructure.

·        Coordinate repairs and maintenance with external contractors when required.

·        Monitor and maintain nursery irrigation systems, water storage, pumps, and related infrastructure.

·        Ensure buildings, shade structures, roads, fencing, and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

·        Manage maintenance schedules, records, and inventory of spare parts and equipment.

·        Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

·        Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

·        Participate in investigations relating to maintenance-related incidents, hazards, or near misses.

 About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

·        Previous experience in a dynamic maintenance position.

·        Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience.

·        Experience coordinating preventative maintenance programs.

·        Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.

·        Ability to coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

·        Strong communication and organisational skills.

·        Strong ability and willingness to learn new skills.

·        Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.

·        Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

·        Current driver's licence.

Desirable

·        Experience within horticulture, agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, or similar industries.

·        Trade qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Fitter, Carpenter, Plumber, or similar).

·        Forklift licence.

·        Experience with irrigation systems and pumps.
