Liar Liar is looking for an experienced and driven Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team.

Liar Liar is a bold Japanese restaurant and late-night destination in Braeside, combining premium sushi, modern Japanese cuisine, charcoal-grilled dishes and high-energy hospitality under one roof.

We’re looking for a chef who loves Japanese food, works well in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in sending out consistently great food.

THE ROLE

Working alongside our senior kitchen team, you'll be responsible for running your section and contributing to the day-to-day operation of a busy Japanese kitchen.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Running and maintaining your allocated section
• Preparing and executing dishes to a consistently high standard
• Working across hot kitchen and Japanese-inspired dishes
• Maintaining strong presentation, portioning and quality control
• Completing daily prep and service requirements
• Following food safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures
• Managing stock, rotation and minimising wastage
• Communicating effectively with chefs, the pass and FOH
• Assisting with menu development and specials where appropriate
• Maintaining a clean, organised and professional section

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready to step up
• Has experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
• Has a genuine interest in Japanese cuisine
• Works quickly without compromising quality
• Is organised and comfortable managing their own section
• Has strong communication and teamwork skills
• Takes pride in presentation and consistency
• Is reliable, punctual and brings a positive attitude to the kitchen

Japanese restaurant, robata, grill experience is highly regarded but not essential.
