Responsibilities:
Ensure an effective Individual Educational Plan support program is managed in a timely and sensitive manner.
Oversee the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, Out of Home Care students in collaboration with the Literacy and Numeracy Learning Specialists and communicate to students, staff and parents and carers.
Ensure effective SSG meetings are organised for all IEP students, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and Out of Home Care students with a diagnosed disability or learning disorder, in collaboration with the Integration Coordinator and relevant teachers and parents and guardians.
An effective transition program for students with individual educational needs and significant documented learning needs is developed and implemented.
Facilitate professional learning opportunities for all staff to ensure inclusive education practices are in place.
Participate in network/school processes and sessions that aide and promote the transfer of relevant student data.
Oversee the special provisions and/or Special Exam Arrangements for all students with a diagnosed disability or learning disorder.
The facilitation of SEAS statements for relevant students.
Manage the Department of Education Disability Inclusion Portal.
The Inclusive Learning Specialists work together as a member of the Student Engagement and Wellbeing Team to ensure, support and lead the inclusive learning practices across the college.
Role:
Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

Please note the Learning Specialist role requires a valid VIT.
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position can apply.
