Admissions Team Leader

The Organisation

We’re partnering with a highly successful Higher Education organisation to find an Admissions Team Leader to join their busy, fast-paced team. You’ll be joining an organisation with a fantastic team culture and a supportive team genuinely invested in helping each other succeed.

They’re looking for someone who can bring that same approach to their leadership style: someone who is approachable and empathetic, but isn't afraid to set expectations and hold people accountable. The team offers hybrid working, with two fixed days in the office each week (Tuesday and Thursday).

The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced admissions professional who enjoys being close to the action, leading people and making things happen. You’ll be responsible for a team of 4–5 Admissions Officers across domestic and international admissions, playing a key role in keeping workloads moving, supporting your team and ensuring a high level of service and delivery.

This is a team that is busy for all the right reasons. There’s plenty happening, a strong pipeline of work and a genuine focus on getting things done. You'll also have the opportunity to act as 2IC to the Admissions Manager, stepping up and being the key point of contact for the team when required.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and supporting a small team of Admissions Officers
• Managing and allocating workloads to ensure priorities and deadlines are met
• Setting clear expectations, targets and performance standards
• Providing guidance on complex admissions matters and acting as the first point of contact for escalations
• Working closely with Recruitment, Sales, Student Services and other internal teams
• Monitoring team performance and proactively identifying and resolving workload issues
• Supporting a positive, collaborative team culture
• Acting as 2IC to the Admissions Manager and stepping up when required
• Helping the team navigate a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly

About you

We’re looking for an experienced admissions professional who is ready to step into, or further develop their people leadership career. You’ll ideally bring experience across both domestic and international admissions, however we're open to candidates who have strong experience in one area combined with proven people management capability.

You'll need:

• At least 12 months' people management experience
• Previous experience within admissions, ideally in Higher Education or a similarly fast-paced education environment
• A strong understanding of admissions processes and workloads
• Confidence setting expectations, managing performance and having difficult conversations
• A supportive, approachable and empathetic leadership style
