Stonemason

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Stonemason to join our team at Heritage Stone in Cambridge, Tasmania. As a Stonemason, you will play a vital role in the fabrication and installation of bench tops and cladding in natural stone, porcelain and zero silica materials. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential and commercial projects. 

What you'll be doing

• Interpreting and following drawings and specifications to create stone elements ready for installation.

• Working with machine operators to ensure projects are cut and machined correctly.

• Operating hand tools and power tools with water suppression, to polish, and finish stone materials with precision and attention to detail.

• Install stone components onsite to a high standard

• Maintaining a safe and organised work environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations

• Providing input and recommendations to project managers on improvements 

• Mentoring and training junior stonemasons to develop their skills and knowledge

What we're looking for

• Formal qualifications in stonemasonry or a related building trade, with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools to shape and finish stone materials.

• Experience in digital measuring and drawing would be advantageous.

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision to meet design specifications

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

• Commitment to workplace safety and a willingness to adhere to all relevant health and safety protocols
