About the role
Help protect one of Australia's most iconic landscapes by inspiring positive environmental action across the Blue Mountains. As Weed Education Officer, you'll deliver community education and communication initiatives that help residents identify, manage and prevent the spread of priority weeds. You'll facilitate workshops, field days and presentations, create engaging digital and print resources, and contribute to social media and community awareness campaigns. Working closely with residents, community groups and Council staff, you'll build understanding of biosecurity responsibilities and support practical weed management outcomes, helping to protect local biodiversity and our World Heritage bushland.
Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in communications, education, community engagement, conservation and land management or a related field. Demonstrated experience developing, delivering and evaluating community education and/or communication projects, preferably in environmental or natural resource management. Strong communication, customer service, organisational and administrative skills, along with knowledge of weed management in the Blue Mountains.
This is a temporary, 3-year position, working 7 hours per day for 3 days per week.
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $79,483 (pro-rata) gross per annum
+ 12% superannuation
+ annual performance-based salary increases / bonus (1-3.5%)
+ annual award increase
