Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Senior
Strategic Planner to join our Strategic Planning Team and play a key role
in shaping the future growth and development of the Liverpool Local Government
Area (LGA).
This is an opportunity for an accomplished planning
professional to lead and contribute to complex strategic planning projects,
influence planning policy and provide high-level strategic advice that supports
the sustainable growth of Liverpool.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Strategic Planner, you will be responsible for
delivering strategic planning policies, projects and initiatives in accordance
with Council’s strategic planning priorities and work program.
You will bring your technical expertise and strategic
thinking to a diverse range of planning matters, while working collaboratively
with internal teams, government agencies, consultants, industry and the
community.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the effective and efficient assessment of both Council-led and Proponent-initiated Planning Proposals, as well as support the effective implementation and administration of Council’s Strategic Land Use Planning Framework.
- Leading
and delivering complex strategic planning projects and studies that
support the growth, development and future planning of the Liverpool LGA.
- Providing
high-level strategic planning advice and expert interpretation of planning
legislation, policy and frameworks to Council staff, Councillors,
stakeholders and the community.
- Preparing
high-quality reports, presentations, correspondence, briefing material
and recommendations for senior management and Council.
- Representing
Council on working groups, committees, forums and stakeholder
engagements, building strong relationships and advocating for
Council’s strategic planning priorities.
- Providing
guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring to planners and other team
members, contributing to capability development within the Strategic
Planning Team.
- Identifying
opportunities for continuous improvement and contributing to the
development of strategic planning processes, policies and frameworks.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a strategic, experienced and
solutions-focused planning professional with strong technical expertise and
the ability to confidently lead complex planning projects.
You will have demonstrated experience in strategic planning,
planning policy and the preparation and implementation of planning instruments,
together with the ability to interpret legislation and provide sound,
evidence-based advice.
You will be a confident communicator and relationship
builder, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders,
Councillors, government agencies, consultants, industry and the community.
Your ability to lead projects, influence outcomes, manage
competing priorities and mentor others will be key to your success in this
role.
