BCA Consultant/ Waterproofing Consultant

Structability is a well-established, multi-disciplinary Consulting Engineering/ Building Design firm based in Southern Sydney.

Our firm primarily specialises in the architectural, structural and civil design of residential buildings. The majority of work will relate to rectification/remediation of existing buildings that have been damaged by fires, tree impacts and vehicle impacts. 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven BCA Consultant to join our Expert Review Team.

The role offers a broad range of training across numerous building types and structures throughout NSW and ACT, with offices in Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspections of existing structures to identify and suggest appropriate upgrading regimes to comply with BCA requirements.

• Internal design review function to assist Building Designers for compliance of designs against the BCA, including

- Waterproofing design,

- Façade design,

-Health and Amenity

-Fire services/ Fire Rating

-Access / Egress;

-Services

- Bushfire compliance of numerous building classifications

• Development of Performance Solution Reports to satisfy the Performance Requirements of the BCA.

Specific Skills & Attributes

• Strong technical report‑writing skills with excellent written English.

• High attention to detail and strong analytical capability.

• Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement and site inspections.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC and industry best practice.

Requirements

• Experience with the BCA. 

• Experience with Waterproofing

• Experience with Facade Design

• Experience with Class 1,10A, Class 2 structures predominantly. Exposure to other building classes including Class 3,4,6,7 and, 9B, 9C

• Able to write performance solutions.

• 2 years’ experience preferable

• Strong technical report writing skills.  

• Excellent attention to detail

• High level of English writing and structural analytical skills will be highly regarded.
