Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team to identify, develop and secure new business, partnership and funding opportunities that support Access Sydney's sustainability, growth and community impact. The position has a practical focus on building relationships, developing service and partnership opportunities, preparing proposals and strengthening Access Sydney's profile with potential partners, customers, funders and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a practical business development pipeline that identifies priority opportunities, prospects, partners and potential funding sources
• Research and assess potential markets, sectors and organisations that may require accessible transport, community connection or related services
• Identify and progress opportunities with community organisations, aged care providers, disability services, local government, health services, funders and other relevant stakeholders
• Prepare high-quality proposals, quotes, presentations, briefing material and partnership documentation in consultation with the CEO and relevant managers
• Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing partners, customers and funders
• Support the development of business development targets, action plans and simple reporting mechanisms to monitor progress and outcomes
• Directly supervise, guide and support the Marketing Officer to ensure marketing, communications and promotional activities align with agreed business development priorities
• Analyse business and industry insights and compile accurate reports
• Monitor the promotions budget
• Attend internal team meetings and prepare/compile Board papers as required

About you

• Proven track record of developing new business, including researching and assessing new industries for business opportunity
• Demonstrated experience in building collaborative, empathetic and productive relationships
• Exceptional communication skills – listening, presenting and writing
• Demonstrated experience in securing fundraising, sponsorship and grant funding
• Experience identifying, developing, and securing large value individual or organisational donations
• Experience developing and managing successful grant applications to government and philanthropic organisations
• An effective Business Development attitude, showing initiative, creativity, professionalism, persistence, confidence and a willingness to engage prospects
• A commitment to diversity, social justice, access and equity, and passion for providing improved outcomes for older people, people with disability, and culturally diverse communities
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant State and Federal Government regulatory environments and stakeholder groups involved in aged, disability sector and/or transport sector
• Competent in MS Office and knowledge of CRM systems and digitally enabled sales channels
• Current driver's license
