The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. Our purpose is to connect, guide, and empower teams and communities through culturally safe, transparent, and responsive ways.

About the Role?

IUIH is providing dedicated resources and programs designed to support female Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with community physiotherapy services and chronic disease self-management and rehabilitation as needed. As Physiotherapist – Women’s Health, your role is to provide direct culturally appropriate physiotherapy services to the community as part of a multi-disciplinary team/program.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Provide clinical services to clients during hours of operation of the service, in keeping with accepted best practice standards. This will include clinic-based appointments and home visits.
• Provide culturally responsive assessment and intervention for adults and children including individual and group programs.
• Provide group education/exercise sessions as part of the Chronic Pain program, hydrotherapy program, or Work It Out program; IUIH’s chronic disease rehabilitation and self-management program.
• Liaise with Queensland Health regarding services available and referral pathways.
• Co-ordinate and provide in-service education in areas relevant to physiotherapy on a regular basis.

About You?

• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
• Current AHPRA Registration.
• Current Disability Worker Screening Check (Qld Yellow Card).
• Current Fist Aid and CPR Certificates.
• Bachelor in Physiotherapy.
• Experience in providing assessment, case management and physiotherapy services to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
• To apply for this position, you should have at least 3 years' experience in providing Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and have completed some post-graduate training (e.g. University, APA or WHTA based)

Desirable, but not mandatory:

• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
• Skills in Workforce Development, work experience in workforce development projects.
