Company Description The Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) is a not-for-profit organization that delivers world-class training for plumbing and fire protection trades across Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales. Formed in 2010 during Australia’s drought, PICAC initially focused on Green Plumbing courses to address the skills shortage in sustainable plumbing. It is an industry collaboration involving key unions and employer associations, ensuring training is closely aligned with industry needs. PICAC now offers programs covering the entire plumbing career lifecycle, from pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship to specialized courses such as Medical Gases, Welding, Sprinkler Fitting, Fire Protection, and OH&S. Through continuous evolution and expansion, PICAC has become the premier training center for the plumbing and fire protection industry.Role Description The Payroll Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC, responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. This role includes maintaining payroll records, entering and updating employee data, and ensuring compliance with relevant awards, agreements, and legislation. The Payroll Officer will calculate wages, overtime, allowances, and deductions, as well as manage payroll taxes and superannuation contributions. Day-to-day tasks involve responding to payroll queries, reconciling payroll reports, liaising with finance and HR teams, and supporting end-of-month and end-of-year payroll activities. The role requires a strong focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Services, including end-to-end payroll processing.Knowledge of Payroll Taxes and related statutory obligations, with the ability to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.Experience in Finance or accounting support, including reconciliations and reporting.Strong Communication skills, with the ability to respond to employee queries clearly and professionally.Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive information.Relevant qualification in payroll, accounting, or business, or equivalent experience in a similar role.Understanding of Australian industrial relations frameworks, awards, and enterprise agreements is highly desirable.
