We’re seeking expressions of interest from students to assist with facilitating the Young Women in Aerospace & Defence Program. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical knowledge outside the classroom, develop valuable professional skills, and engage with secondary school students considering future STEM pathways. As a STEM Outreach Program Facilitator, you'll work alongside RMIT staff to deliver hands-on engineering activities, mentor student teams, and share your experiences as a current university student.
About the Program
The Young Women in Aerospace & Defence Program is one of the STEM College's flagship outreach initiatives. The program engages Year 7 to 12 students through hands-on learning experiences, industry exposure, engineering challenges and direct interaction with current RMIT students. By sharing your university journey and passion for STEM, you'll help make engineering and technology feel accessible, achievable and exciting for young women exploring future study and career options.
About the Role
As a STEM Program Facilitator, you will:
Support the delivery of practical engineering and STEM activities
Facilitate hands-on workshops and student learning experiences
Guide student teams through engineering challenges
Explain engineering concepts in an engaging and accessible way
Encourage participation and foster an inclusive learning environment
Act as a positive and relatable role model for secondary school students
About You
We’re keen to hear from students who are:
Currently enrolled in 4th or 5th year engineering, or equivalent relevant engineering/STEM study and experience
Confident communicating and explaining concepts to others
Willing to obtain, or already hold, a valid Employee Working with Children Check before commencing duties
