We Care NSW is a provider of specialist Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal child, family and disability services. We are a Not for Profit organisation that prides itself on offering quality support services to children, young people and vulnerable adults. We offer allied health services, behaviour support, out of home care services, community and disability support for people with psychosocial and physical challenges. Our service delivery includes children, young people and adults in the Tweed Heads, Newcastle and Hunter regions.

Our Matung Wannay therapeutic practice framework (meaning courageous children in local Wonnarua language), is based on building trusting and safe attachments and connections which are trauma informed, culturally safe, evidence based and align with our values.

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Male House Coordinator to join our Out of Home Care team.
This opportunity is based in Tweed Heads and is a permanent part-time position, working 32 hours per week across a 24/7 roster, including sleepover shifts. This opportunity is based in Tweed Heads. We are looking for a professional who is resilient, confident, and trauma-informed, with experience with and understanding of neurodivergence, attachment and a focus on individualised, consistent care.
This role includes sleepover shifts and offers flexibility across a 24/7 roster to ensure holistic and stable support for the young person.
This role specifies House Coordinator role for persons of a particular sex to meet the needs of the participants in accordance with an exemption granted from sections 8, 10, 25, 27 & 51 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Key Responsibilities
Support young people to lead stable, purposeful lives, with hope and in line with We Care values, Legislation and the OCG’s Standards of Care.
Lead and support a team of support workers within your allocated program.
Manage high complexity behaviours and deescalate situations where young person becomes heightened
Complete required reporting and record keeping and ensure all program documentation is up to date and accurate.
Understand and apply Behaviour Support Plans and assist other support workers in doing so.
About You
You are a positive, composed mentor and great listener with a dedication to ensure young people feel heard, valued and empowered. With a passion to provide individualised support to achieve aspirations and goals, you enjoy building therapeutic relationships and being a part of the journey with those in your care. Your approach is focused on respect, dignity and care.
Skills and experience
Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, social sciences, community services, education, health, early childhood, criminology, policing or similar.
Experience in out of home care, child protection services, psychology or allied health services.
Experience in a management role in the community services / allied health sector or similar.
Experience working directly with children / young people and families with complex support needs and disabilities, preferably in child protection or out of home care services.
Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services.
