Are you a safe and reliable driver who also has a genuine passion for caring for older people and supporting people living with disability?

Uniting is looking for a compassionate and experienced Bus Driver to join our Transport Services team in the Sydney Metro region.

This is a unique role that combines professional driving with hands-on care and support. You’ll be responsible for safely transporting residents and clients to and from Uniting locations, appointments and outings, while making sure they feel comfortable, respected and supported every step of the way.

💚 About the Role

As a Bus Driver, you’ll provide safe and comfortable transport for our residents and clients, many of whom may have mobility needs, dementia, developmental disabilities or other complex support requirements.

You’ll be more than their driver — you’ll be a familiar, friendly face they can rely on.

Your responsibilities will include:

Safely transporting residents and clients between their homes, Uniting locations and community activitiesDriving clients on outings and assisting with the planning of activities where requiredHelping residents safely enter and exit the busProviding mobility assistance, including support with wheelchairsSupervising clients throughout journeys and outings and ensuring their safety and comfortProviding appropriate personal care and support, including toileting and hygiene assistanceAssisting with meals, morning teas and afternoon teas during outingsSupporting clients with activities and other care needsAssisting with medication in accordance with Uniting policies and proceduresMaintaining client dignity, privacy, choice and independence at all timesCompleting daily vehicle logs and other required documentationEnsuring the vehicle is clean, safe and well maintainedReporting servicing, repairs, hazards or safety concerns promptlyFollowing emergency procedures and all WHS and infection-control requirements

We’re looking for someone who is:

A confident, safe and reliable bus driverPatient, compassionate and respectfulComfortable working with older people and people living with disabilityExperienced or willing to work with people living with dementia, developmental disabilities and/or mental health conditionsComfortable providing personal care and mobility assistanceA strong communicator who enjoys building positive relationshipsAble to work independently with minimal supervisionA team player who works well with care and transport teamsFamiliar with Sydney and surrounding road networksCommitted to providing equitable and respectful service to everyone, regardless of backgroundProfessional, reliable and committed to maintaining client confidentiality and dignity

🚗 Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Current LR (1B) Driver’s Licence

Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support

Proven experience and reliability in bus drivingA genuine commitment to supporting frail older people and people with disabilityExperience or willingness to support people with dementia and challenging behavioursCurrent First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain oneGood communication skillsA strong understanding of workplace health and safetyCommitment to following Uniting policies, procedures and Safe Work Practices

Experience in aged care, disability or community services is highly desirable.
