Senior Technician/Mechanic

About the role

This is a senior position suited to an experienced technician/mechanic who can tackle any job. We're after someone confident on any size job, across all makes and models. This is not a role for a part-fitter or recently qualified mechanic - we want someone who's seen it all and done it all, and if they haven't, will jump in and figure it out. You will be the senior technician in the workshop and support other technicians with diagnosis and technical escalations while smashing out anything we can throw at you, from clutches to injectors to timing belts and motor swaps.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, diagnosis and repairs across all makes and models, including Ambulance Victoria vehicles

• Diagnosing complex mechanical faults

• Supporting front of house with labour time estimations

• Providing technical guidance and second opinions to technicians, passing on your expertise to improve the collective knowledge of the workshop

• Performing quality-control checks and helping minimise rework

• Ensuring jobs are completed correctly, efficiently and on time

• Identifying additional repairs or maintenance required and communicating these clearly to the service team

• Supporting the training and development of junior technicians and apprentices

About you

• A qualified automotive technician/mechanic with strong industry experience

• Highly competent in diagnostics and fault finding

• Confident across a broad range of makes and models

• An experienced senior technician or foreman who loves being on the tools

• Comfortable providing direction and holding high standards

• A good communicator who can work effectively with technicians, service advisors and management

• Someone who takes pride in doing things to a high standard

• Positive and proactive attitude

• Calm under pressure and willing to help the team when things get busy

• Ideally RWC and A/C license + EV credentials but not essential
