Remote Housing Officer
Help create safer homes, stronger communities, and meaningful employment opportunities across East Arnhem Land.
East Arnhem Real Estate is seeking a committed and community-minded Remote Housing Officer to join our Indigenous Social Housing Team. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside Yolŋu Community Housing Officers, supporting tenants, mentoring local staff, and helping deliver high-quality housing services across some of Australia's most unique and remote communities.
This is more than a housing role. It is an opportunity to make a genuine impact by supporting local employment, improving housing outcomes, and building strong relationships with Aboriginal communities throughout East Arnhem Land.
As a Remote Housing Officer, you will work closely with Yolŋu Community Housing Officers and community stakeholders to deliver professional, culturally respectful housing services.
You will regularly travel to remote communities and homelands, supporting tenants and housing teams while helping build the capability and confidence of our local workforce.
Mentor, coach and support Yolŋu Community Housing Officers in their day-to-day housing activities.
Travel regularly to remote Aboriginal communities across East Arnhem Land.
Conduct routine property inspections.
Identify maintenance issues and coordinate repairs with contractors and service providers.
Build positive relationships with tenants, community leaders and housing stakeholders.
Assist tenants to understand their tenancy responsibilities and maintain successful tenancies.
Work collaboratively with support services to assist vulnerable tenants and households.
Maintain accurate tenancy records, inspection reports and property information.
Contribute to housing programs that improve living conditions and community outcomes.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a remote environment, and is passionate about creating positive housing and employment outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
Current Australian Driver Licence.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout East Arnhem Land, including overnight trips.
Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching or supporting Indigenous employees, trainees, apprentices or community members to build confidence, skills and workplace independence.
Proven ability to foster a positive, respectful and inclusive workplace culture where individuals feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.
Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
High level of initiative, organisation and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
Demonstrated cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully alongside Yolŋu people, community leaders and local organisations.
Strong administrative, reporting and computer skills.
Experience working within Aboriginal communities, Indigenous organisations, housing programs or community development projects.
Experience supporting workforce development, training delivery, succession planning or employment pathways.
Understanding of social housing, tenancy management or property maintenance.
Experience working in remote or regional locations.
