Are you passionate about horticulture and looking for a new challenge? JP Khatri Pty Ltd, a leading banana farm in Warrubullen, QLD, is seeking a skilled and experienced Horticultural Supervisor to join our team.
As a Horticultural Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our banana farm, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with the farm manager to ensure that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of horticultural staff, including farm hands and machinery operators
- Develop and implement work schedules and assign tasks to team members
- Monitor crop growth and health, and make recommendations for irrigation, fertilization, and pest control
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate records of production and farm activities
- Train and mentor new employees on horticultural practices and farm procedures
- Assist with the recruitment and performance evaluation of staff
- Collaborate with farm manager to plan and execute planting, harvesting, and other farm operations
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with crops, equipment, and facilities
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in horticulture.
Requirements:
- Certificate IV or above in Horticulture or a related field
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in a horticultural supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, including irrigation, fertilization, and pest control
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license.
Salary: $70,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation
