Role Description The Estimator – Mobile Plant Maintenance is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Perth Area. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for maintenance, overhaul, and rebuild projects on heavy mobile plant equipment, including earthmoving machinery. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing work scopes and technical documentation, assessing labour, parts, and subcontractor requirements, and compiling detailed quotations and proposals. The Estimator collaborates closely with maintenance supervisors, tradespeople, and procurement to validate job requirements, update costings, and ensure estimates align with operational capabilities and client expectations. The role also involves monitoring project progress against estimates, updating forecasts, maintaining estimating tools and databases, and contributing to continuous improvement of pricing accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in estimating or planning for mobile plant maintenance or heavy equipment, with strong understanding of earthmoving machinery and component rebuilds.Ability to interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, work scopes, and engineering specifications relevant to mobile plant maintenance.Proficiency with estimating and maintenance management software, spreadsheets, and data analysis for cost, labour, and materials forecasting.Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in preparing quotes and project cost breakdowns.Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to collaborate with workshop teams, procurement, and customers.Solid understanding of safety, quality, and compliance requirements in heavy industry and workshop environments.Relevant trade qualification (e.g., heavy diesel mechanic, fitter) or tertiary qualification in engineering, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is highly regarded.Experience in the mining, construction, or resources sector in the Greater Perth Area or similar environments is an advantage.
