Casual | $50 – $54 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) + applicable penalties and allowances

Langford Support Services is seeking experienced Complex Support Workers for our Children & Youth Services support teams in Hobart.
This is a targeted recruitment campaign for workers with the right experience, temperament and availability to support young people with highly complex support needs.
We are looking beyond qualifications alone. These roles require people who can build trust, remain calm and consistent through challenging situations, understand the impact of complex trauma and create a safe and nurturing home environment.
Our young people need workers who are resilient, emotionally regulated, engaging, dependable and genuinely committed to relationship-based support.
Your Role & Responsibilities:
provide safe, consistent and person-centred support.
build positive and trusting relationships;
follow individual care, behaviour and support plans;
respond appropriately to complex situations and incidents;
support daily routines, personal care and household activities where required;
encourage independence and meaningful participation;
maintain accurate shift notes and incident documentation; and
uphold Langford’s safeguarding requirements, Child Youth Safe Standards and Code of Conduct.
Demonstrated experience supporting children and young people aged 8–18 in Out of Home Care or similar complex-care environments.
Experience supporting young people who have experienced complex trauma.
An understanding of attachment, emotional safety, trust and positive connection.
The ability to remain calm, professional and consistent when responding to complex behaviours or incidents.
Strong judgement, resilience, professional boundaries and teamwork.
A genuine interest in helping young people experience joy, connection, purpose and belonging.
We particularly value workers who can actively engage young people through activities such as art and craft, baking, creative play, music, dance, swimming, fishing, bushwalking and sport.
You will also be willing to further develop your knowledge of trauma-informed practice, play and attachment.
Applicants must have reliable availability across a combination of:
Morning: 6:00am–2:00pm
Afternoon: 2:00pm–10:00pm
Sleepover: 2:00pm–6:00am
Weekends and public holidays as required
This recruitment is not for active awake shifts.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child Youth & Family Intervention, Disability, Community Services or a related field.
Minimum of 12 months experience supporting individuals with complex needs.
Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (NDIS endorsed).
Current National Police Check (within the last six months).
Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Administration of Medication Drug Certificate.
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You'.
