Orange Door Children and Young Person's Practice Leader

MacKillop Family Services is proud to be a key partner in the Brimbank Melton Orange Door network, bringing specialist expertise in child and young person wellbeing, vulnerability, and risk. The Orange Door provides a central access point for children, young people, families, and individuals experiencing family violence, family safety concerns, and wellbeing challenges, ensuring they receive timely support and access to the services they need.

We are seeking a Children and Young Person's Practice Leader to join our integrated team at The Orange Door in Sunshine.

This is a meaningful opportunity to play a critical role in improving outcomes for children, young people, and families by providing expert practice leadership on engaging children and young people, assessing risk and needs for the infant, child, young person and family, and supporting interventions for infants, children and young people impacted by family violence and/or experiencing vulnerabilities due to other factors.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Working collaboratively within The Orange Door integrated practice model.
• Collaborating with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for families.
• Contributing to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and families.
• Leading Children and Young Person’s practice and facilitating decision making.
• Providing specialist and advanced practice leadership and support to practitioner.
• Building capability of practitioners to respond to infants, children and young people impacted by family violence and/or wellbeing issue.
• Providing expert knowledge, sound judgement and authoritative advice on risks, priorities, accountability, and practice matters.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders.
• Managing stakeholders through effective negotiation and influence.
• In partnership with other practice leaders, supporting clinical and practice professional development and training of practitioners.
• Participating in the monitoring and delivery of projects to respond to local clinical or Children and Young Person’s practice needs.

We are currently recruiting 1 x Full-Time opportunity based in Sunshine, VIC reporting to the Manager Family & Community Services

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification(s) and experience that meet or are working towards the Victorian Government’s Mandatory Minimum Qualification Policy for the family violence workforce. At least 2 years’ experience in the Child and Family services sector, and experience working with the family violence service stream is preferred.
• Expert knowledge of issues that children and families face, including those impacted by family violence. Well-developed need, risk and safety assessment skills and high-level engagement skills with vulnerable children and families.
• A demonstrated understanding of, and capability in, working with families from diverse backgrounds.
• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
