Specialist Mental Health Nursing | Serving Those Who've Served!

The Jamie Larcombe Centre at Glenside is one of Australia's only dedicated inpatient mental health facilities for veterans and their families — with both full-time and part-time positions available, this ongoing nursing role places you at the heart of that specialist care. Working within SALHN's close-knit multidisciplinary team, you'll deliver trauma-informed, recovery-focused nursing to current and ex-serving ADF members at some of the most important moments in their lives.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, in this role you will assess, plan and deliver individualised, recovery-oriented mental health nursing care to veterans and their families within a supportive inpatient environment, working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team to guide patients safely through acute episodes and toward meaningful recovery.

Duties for the role will include:

• Assess individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies,
• Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting,
• Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual.
• Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our patients

About you:

• Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice,
• Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
• Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
• Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
• Ability to work within a team framework that fosters an environment that develops staff potential
