Salary Package: $125,000 - $128,000 + Super

Role Highlights: Join ASC's corporate Finance team in a Financial Accountant role focused on financial accounting, reporting, governance and continuous improvement. Work closely with stakeholders across the business while supporting the integrity and accuracy of ASC Group financial information.

Role Overview
This Financial Accountant will play a key role within ASC's corporate financial accounting team, supporting the integrity, governance and accuracy of financial data across the ASC Group. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Financial Accounting and Reporting, you'll work across general and project ledgers, month-end reconciliations, journals, project costs, overhead allocations, payroll accounting, capital and lease accounting, subsidiary accounting and financial reporting. A significant part of the role is ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant and appropriately recorded, while providing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders across the business.
You'll work closely with Finance colleagues and a diverse range of stakeholders, responding to enquiries, investigating accounting issues and contributing to improvements across financial processes, systems and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete general and project ledgers, ensuring the integrity of financial data
• Prepare accurate and timely journals
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and key transaction account reconciliations
• Analyse and monitor project costs and overhead allocations
• Undertake a range of accounting and reporting activities including capital and lease assets, general accounting, payroll accounting and subsidiary accounting
• Support forecasting and the production of end-of-year reports
• Provide timely and high-quality support for annual audits
• Ensure accounting processes comply with ASC financial policies, procedures, Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation
• Provide accounting advice and guidance to ensure costs are appropriately classified and reported
• Respond to internal customer enquiries and assist with policy interpretation and application
• Support regular and ad-hoc financial reporting and administration of subsidiaries
• Investigate accounting issues and problems and ensure appropriate solutions are achieved
• Contribute to new initiatives, process improvements and the development of financial systems and internal controls
• Support best-practice financial management and financial service delivery
• Work collaboratively across the broader Finance function and develop strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Contribute to a strong control environment, financial integrity and audit readiness

Candidate Profile
As an ideal candidate you are an experienced Financial Accountant with proven experience in a similar role within a corporate accounting environment. You bring strong technical accounting capability and a sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, with the ability to apply accounting principles within a complex corporate environment.
You will have experience across financial accounting and reporting, including general and project ledgers, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, project costs, overhead allocations and financial controls. Exposure to capital and lease accounting, payroll accounting, subsidiary accounting, forecasting and audit support will be highly regarded.
Strong MS Office skills are required, including a high degree of confidence in MS Excel. Experience working with financial business information systems is important, with the ability to learn and work effectively across new systems.
You'll also be a confident communicator who enjoys working with people. You can provide clear advice and guidance to a diverse range of stakeholders, develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively as part of a team.
CA/CPA qualified or part-qualified, with relevant post-membership experience, is required. Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting are also essential.
