Contract Manager

Hindmarsh is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Canberra team and lead the commercial outcomes of a significant $100M+ high-rise residential project that will deliver much-needed affordable housing for the ACT community.

Contracts Managers at Hindmarsh are responsible for leading project commercial outcomes through effective head contract management, procurement strategy, subcontractor management and commercial risk leadership. As the commercial lead on the project, you will work closely with the Project Manager and site leadership team to maximise performance, manage risk and drive successful project outcomes from procurement through to completion.
Reporting to the Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:Leading head contract and subcontract administration across all phases of project deliveryDeveloping and implementing procurement strategies and managing major trade packagesIdentifying, managing and mitigating commercial and contractual risksManaging client and subcontractor claims, variations and extension of time processesMonitoring project financial performance, forecasting, cashflow and cost reportingPreparing and presenting commercial reports to project and business leadershipSupporting project delivery teams with commercial strategy and decision-makingLeading commercial compliance, contract reviews and project auditsMentoring and developing Contract Administrators and emerging commercial professionalsBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
We are looking for team members who have:Significant commercial construction experience, ideally within a head contractor environmentExperience delivering large-scale residential, mixed-use or commercial construction projectsStrong knowledge of contract law principles, Security of Payment legislation and commercial risk managementProven experience leading commercial outcomes on complex construction projectsStrong negotiation, stakeholder management and communication skillsExperience using CHEOPS, Aconex and similar construction software
