The numbers behind everything Launceston owns
You’ll be the one keeping Launceston’s asset register accurate, from the roads you drive on to the parks you walk through. You’ll report to the Team Leader Accounting and work closely with Asset Officers, Senior Leaders and our external auditors, turning technical accounting work into clear guidance that shapes how a city invests in what it owns.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Maintain and reconcile Council’s fixed asset register, including depreciation and revaluations in line with Australian Accounting Standards
Process asset transactions and reconcile ledger accounts across the organisation, keeping our financial data accurate and audit ready
Produce monthly and quarterly capital works reporting for managers, team leaders and the Audit Panel
Support the ongoing improvement of Council’s asset systems and provide accounting guidance to teams across the organisation
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Sound understanding of accounting concepts and Australian Accounting Standards, particularly as they apply to asset accounting
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Confidence working with computerised financial systems, backed by high level analytical and reporting skills and a strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external customers
