We are seeking a Training Specialist Critical Minerals to lead the development and continuous improvement of training and competency systems across Fortescue Critical Minerals Exploration.
This role will provide practical training leadership across Australian and international projects, ensuring employees and contractors have the capability and competency to work safely and consistently. Working closely with operational leaders, Health and Safety teams, central Training and external providers, you will develop and deliver fit-for-purpose learning solutions across diverse and remote operating environments.
The role will suit an experienced training professional who can work independently, influence stakeholders and translate operational risks and technical requirements into practical and effective learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a risk-based training and competency framework aligned with Fortescue systems, central Training standards and project requirementsIdentify capability gaps and establish training plans across Australian and international Critical Minerals Exploration projectsCoordinate the delivery of practical training and competency programs for employees and contractorsMaintain consistent processes for training records, competency verification, trainer and assessor authorisation, refreshers and assurance evidenceDevelop or source practical learning solutions for exploration activities and critical risksSupport multilingual, culturally appropriate and accessible learning solutions across diverse operating environmentsCoordinate with central Training, Health and Safety, operational leaders, contractors and external training providersEnsure effective onboarding and induction processes are implemented and reviewed for employees and contractorsMonitor training completion, competency, quality and effectiveness, and provide clear reporting on performance and trendsDrive continuous improvement using feedback, incidents, operational learnings and assurance findings.
Qualifications And Experience
Substantial experience in training, competency or workforce capability within mining, exploration, resources, construction or another high-risk industryExperience implementing training systems across dispersed or remote operationsStrong knowledge of training needs analysis, competency assurance and verification of competency principlesKnowledge of adult learning, assessment practices and learning management systemsExperience developing risk-based training solutions for high-risk and remote work environmentsStrong stakeholder engagement, influencing and facilitation skills, including experience supporting leaders, contractors and culturally diverse workforcesAbility to translate operational risks and technical requirements into practical, accessible learning solutionsStrong program planning, prioritisation, coordination, data analysis and reporting skillsRelevant qualification in training and assessment or a related discipline; Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent may be desirableInternational or multilingual operating experience and relevant high-risk, emergency response, four-wheel-driving or exploration competencies are desirable.
