Project Accountant

SYPAQ is seeking a Project Accountant to join our finance team based at our corporate office on Bertie St, Port Melbourne. Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant this position is pivotal in the accurate management and reporting of SYPAQ groups project accounts. Working primarily with NetSuite Accounting Package and Atlassian’s Confluence this role will include the following key Responsibilities;  

 

• Establish new projects and maintain billing, revenue recognition and costing rules within NetSuite.
• Maintain project budgets, forecasts and billing projections, and provide financial reporting and analysis to project managers and management.
• Manage revenue accounting, including revenue recognition, billing, WIP and deferred revenue.
• Perform project and job costing, analysing costs, margins, profitability, variances and financial performance.
• Undertake a range of project management and support activities contributing to the successful delivery of projects under the direction of management.
• Coordinate subcontractor and supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective administration of ongoing and new projects.
• Assisting opportunities, commercial offers and Contract Change Proposals across NetSuite, Atlassian Confluence and project costing systems.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders with a focus on becoming the link between the operations and finance teams.

About you

• A degree in Business Studies or Commerce or Financial Management
• CA, CPA or studying towards
• Engineering or Manufacturing background – Highly desirable (Projects)
• Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience
• Strong computer skills including familiarity with ERP Software (NetSuite preferred)
• Excellent Communication skills and attention to detail
• Experienced user of Microsoft office suite.
