Construction Operations Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are partnering with an established, privately owned Victorian property development and construction group to appoint an experienced Construction Operations Manager.

With a substantial secured development pipeline and continued growth ahead, the business is seeking an accomplished residential construction leader to drive operational performance across its build portfolio.

Operating across multi-unit residential developments, volume housing and spec homes, this is a broad leadership position encompassing people, construction performance, commercial outcomes and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will lead & coach Construction Managers, Site Managers and the broader construction function while taking ownership of performance across the build business.

This is an opportunity for an experienced operator who has already led residential construction at scale and is ready to take broader ownership of a growing construction operation.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Your mandate is to deliver the build program safely, efficiently, profitably and at scale.

You will:

• Lead performance across site starts, WIP, build times and completions
• Lead and develop Construction Managers, Site Managers and construction teams across multiple locations
• Drive cost, quality, safety, trade capacity, procurement and margin performance
• Improve pre-construction, buildability and workflows to remove bottlenecks and accelerate delivery
• Oversee the spec home portfolio with accountability extending beyond construction delivery into commercial performance

Working collaboratively across Development, Finance and other key functions, you will have visibility across feasibility, budget, margin and project outcomes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a seasoned residential construction operator, not someone stepping into large-scale operational leadership for the first time.

Your background will demonstrate:

• Leadership of significant residential construction programs at scale
• Strong multi-unit experience across townhomes, low-rise apartments and/or medium-density developments
• Spec home experience with genuine exposure to feasibility, margin and commercial outcomes
• Experience delivering across multiple and geographically dispersed sites
• Strong technical and commercial knowledge across construction, cost, compliance and buildability

You will understand the complete residential construction lifecycle and be comfortable moving between strategic and operational detail, from reviewing program and commercial performance with senior leadership to challenging construction costs, reviewing plans and walking sites with your construction team.

Strong knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards and Victorian residential building requirements will be essential, together with the leadership capability to create accountability and consistently lift performance.

Relevant construction qualifications and Registered Building Practitioner status will be highly regarded.
