Senior Consultant-Lean Systems

About the role

The Senior Lean Manufacturing Systems Consultant is a specialist responsible for delivering manufacturing consulting, Lean transformation and systems advisory services to ANZ Design, engineering and Manufacturing businesses. The role combines consulting, research, client advisory and commercial development, with responsibility for identifying, scoping and selling consulting projects and professional services engagements. A key component of the role is helping manufacturing businesses understand their operational challenges, improve their processes and establish the organisational and systems foundations required for digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct operational assessments and manufacturing diagnostics to understand how operations currently function and identify opportunities for measurable improvement

• Analyse end-to-end processes from sales/order entry through planning, procurement, goods inward, warehousing, staging, scheduling, production, quality control, and dispatch

• Map current-state processes, workflows, information flows, decision points, roles and functions

• Identify operational waste, bottlenecks, rework, delays, duplication and constraints

• Conduct root cause analysis and symptomatic analysis

• Quantify the operational and commercial impact of identified problems

• Develop practical recommendations and improvement roadmaps

• Design and deliver Lean consulting engagements including value-stream mapping, process mapping and redesign, production flow improvement, inventory optimisation, and waste reduction

• Identify, develop and sell consulting opportunities as either billable hours or outcome-based consulting projects

• Develop trusted relationships with business owners, CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CIOs, Operations Managers and other senior stakeholders

• Assess client operational, procedural, and systems fitness and maturity to help manufacturing businesses understand whether they are ready for digital transformation

• Develop digital transformation readiness or transformation roadmaps with RAID analysis

• Identify potential MRP opportunities during consulting engagements and work closely with the MRP Business Development Manager and other partners

• Take responsibility for delivering consulting engagements to agreed scope, timeframe and commercial objectives including project planning, client workshops, process discovery, data analysis, and benefits measurement

About you

• Essential: Significant practical experience in manufacturing operations

• Essential: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments

• Essential: Demonstrated Lean / continuous improvement experience

• Essential: Experience conducting operational assessments and process improvement projects

• Essential: Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, software and other related products

• Essential: Strong understanding of planning, procurement, inventory and production

• Essential: Practical understanding of MRP/ERP systems

• Essential: Experience working directly with manufacturing business owners and senior executives

• Essential: Demonstrated consulting or professional services experience

• Essential: Ability to scope and sell consulting services

• Essential: Strong commercial awareness

• Essential: Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills

• Desirable: Experience across multiple manufacturing sectors

• Desirable: Experience with discrete, make-to-order, configure-to-order or engineer-to-order environments

• Desirable: MRP/ERP implementation experience

• Desirable: Lean or Six Sigma qualification

• Desirable: Experience developing digital transformation roadmaps

• Desirable: Experience with manufacturing master data, BOMs and routings

• Desirable: Experience developing business cases and ROI models

• Desirable: Experience in professional services or technology consulting sales
