Excavator Operator

About the role

Accolade Projects is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our dynamic construction team on a Full Time basis in Adelaide for a secured project in Bowden.

This role is central to the successful delivery of our construction projects. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavation equipment on various construction sites, playing a vital role in the earthworks and site preparation phases of our projects. This is a hands-on position that requires precision, safety awareness, and technical expertise in plant machinery operation.

What you'll be doing

1. Operating excavators and related earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with site requirements and project specifications

2. Performing pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on all equipment to ensure mechanical soundness and safety compliance

3. Excavating, loading and moving materials such as soil, rock and debris as directed by site supervisors and in line with project plans

4. Maintaining accurate communication with crane operators, spotters and other site personnel to ensure safe coordination on busy construction sites

5. Adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations, site-specific procedures and environmental requirements

6. Monitoring equipment performance and reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements promptly

7. Contributing to a positive safety culture by identifying hazards and participating in toolbox meetings and safety briefings

8. Ensuring all work is completed to quality standards whilst maintaining project timelines

What we're looking for

1. Valid Heavy Machinery License or equivalent qualifications specific to excavator operation

2. Proven experience operating excavators in commercial construction or related earthworks environments

3. Current White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one immediately

4. Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards and the ability to work under strict safety protocols

5. Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with site supervisors, contractors and other plant operators

6. Excellent spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination and the ability to operate machinery with precision

7. Physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions and demanding site environments

8. Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work

9. Preferred: Experience with multiple types of excavation equipment or GPS-guided machinery

10. Preferred: Previous experience on major infrastructure or high-profile construction projects
