Criminal Defence Solicitor

As a Junior Solicitor, you will play an integral role in the preparation and conduct of criminal defence matters. Your work will include:

• Preparing and managing files involving criminal charges, domestic violence matters, and child safety proceedings.

• Appearing in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts throughout Queensland on a daily basis.

• Working closely with clients, their families, and key stakeholders to understand individual circumstances and deliver personalised, compassionate legal support.

• Maintaining thorough and organised case records to support the firm’s high standard of legal practice.

We are looking for a solicitor who is eager to embrace the challenges and rewards of criminal defence work. You will bring:

• An understanding of criminal law, including relevant legislation, case law, and court processes within Queensland’s Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and confidently.

• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, supported by attention to detail and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing competing deadlines with professionalism and composure.

• A genuine passion for criminal law and a dedication to protecting the rights and interests of clients.

• A valid driver’s licence, as travel to various jurisdictions is required.

• Eligibility to obtain a Queensland Practising Certificate upon commencement.
